Snow & Ice Melting (Limited Mass System) How it Works

Unlike our Thermal Mass System that does not require insulation beneath the heating panels, the snow and ice melting system recommend insulation below the heating panels to force the heat up as fast as possible. 1″, 2″ Styrofoam Polystyrene Board or Low-E Slab Sheild  Low-E Slabshield® – LOW-E Insulation is recommended to go directly below the heating panels.

Specs & Techs

The ThermaRay Thermal Mass Floor Heating panels consist of a double Teflon coated Nickel Chromium heating element wire embedded in sheetrock with (2) hot to cold feed connections and (2) 6″ lead wires coming out one end of the heating panel.  The sheetrock is merely a vessel for keeping the wires properly spaced and for ease of shipping, storing, handling and installing. The heating panels are 1/2″ thick, 18″ wide and 4′, 5′, 7′ or 8′ Long. See Spec Sheet – TR – Spec Sheet (Floor Heat) Once the panels are placed wired and tested. approximately 8″ of fill sand or other medium is placed over the heating panels, tamped if necessary and then typically a concrete floor is poured over the entire area.

Reduce Your Risk of Slips and Falls

Each year, there are over 300,000 Emergency Room visits and over 12,000 fatalities related to slips and falls due to ice and snow.

According to Zurich Insurance, the average general liability claim is $15,132 and the average worker’s compensation claim is $29,056.

We all recognize the importance of effective snow removal plans.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature often has other plans for winter weather that will overwhelm even the most diligent efforts to shovel, plow and use salt and other chemicals. Reduce the risk of slips and falls.

Snow and Ice Melting

With our Snow Melting System, you can prevent slips and falls by melting ice and snow before it accumulates and freezes.

Our Snow Sensors monitor moisture and temperature to detect when ice or snow is imminent, activating the system and keeping walkways free and clear of ice and snow until the conditions subside.

Keep your building entrances, sidewalks, walkways, steps, ramps and parking lots clear of ice and snow for your guests and employees to reduce your liability this winter.
