Thermal Mass Storage Floor Heating System (Under Concrete)

The ThermaRay Thermal Mass Storage Floor Heating System installed under concrete is the only true Deep Heating system on the market today. Basically, the main point is that “The larger the thermal mass, the lower the operating costs”. Tubing systems with 2” Styrofoam under the tubes drastically increase the operating cost because they limit the thermal mass.

The hydronic/tubing guys will tell you that if you don’t put insulation under the tubes, you will lose all that generated heat to the earth. Simply not true. If the thermostat was never satisfied or shut off the heat would continue to drive down, but the space would also be inhabitable. The fact is –  It’s a matter of simple physics. Heat can only transfer to colder temperatures. It can’t migrate when the temperature is equal or higher than the generated temperature. See Example of Temperature Gradient.

The Floor Heating Panels warm up and as heat migrates away from the panel, the temperature gets lower and lower until it reaches a temperature equal to itself which is the temperature of the earth (around 54 degrees). When the thermostat is satisfied and the heat doesn’t keep migrating infinitely, it is dormant until the area above it is needs it. The thermal mass system creates a 2’ – 2-1/2’ deep thermal mass that will release into the area above it when it is cooler than the thermal mass. premierenergyusa.com/…/USA-Floor-Heat-Under-Concrete-F.pdf

Bottom Line – If you take a large rock and a small rock out of a fire, the larger rock will hold the heat longer.

Listen to a developer explain the benefits of installing a ThermaRay Thermal Mass Floor Heating System installed under the concrete as well as seeing and hearing what the product is and how it’s installed from our onsite technician.

Benefits:

  1. Considerably less space required in mechanical room vs. hydronic (Tubing) systems
  2. Qualifies for the Off-Peak program offered by almost all the power companies in Minnesota. Most hydronic systems do not qualify, but it depends on the power supplier
  3. Typically less to install. Depends on the location, but we are usually a quarter to half the cost for installation.
  4. 35% – 70% less cost to operate vs. hydronic or forced air. Depends on the power source, but even lower operating cost than those using natural gas as a source
  5. Save exponentially on Styrofoam insulation (Materials only, not including labor). Not required for our thermal mass system, but typically associated with hydronic systems
  6. Simple Installation – Approximately 3-5 Hours for installation (2 Personnel)
  7. Healthiest Environment
  8. No Maintenance
  9. No eventual repair or replacement of parts like is associated with an hydronic system.
  10. Lowest overall lifetime cost vs. “Any” other heating system.
  11. No Noise
  12. No moving parts
  13. Unlimited control options. From simple to remote access point for entire home and up to Wi-Fi accessible from your phone
  14. Not only an Invisible heating system , but we have options so that you don’t see thermostats in any room. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing.
  15. Qualifies for up to 15 LEED Points
  16. 45+ Year stellar track record

Lowest Life Cycle Heating Costs

Don Mordal “You’ll have a floor heating system that will last for life of your building. No Maintenance, Repair or Replacement”.

Mike Faber – “Down the road, our client is going to get a lot of benefits. When he realizes it’s thirty years later and he hasn’t had any maintenance costs, and you didn’t have to replace eight rooftop units. While our client is going to immediately get some financial benefits, they think of this as being the smarter long-term play. My attitude is this is the right solution. That’s going to apply either to developers who own buildings or any end user”.
