School and University Heating Systems

McGill University - 2

Our School and University Heating Systems are designed for everything from large universities to middle schools and daycare centers, ThermaRay-USA offers three different Radiant Heating Systems to meet the challenges of efficiently heating these unique buildings.  Snow and ice melting can also be installed to keep sidewalks and driveways safe and maintenance free.

Features and Benefits

  • Affordable operating costs and installation – typically 50-75% less than hydronic (tubing), traditional convection systems and geothermal systems.
  • Electric radiant technology is motionless, invisible and quiet providing superior comfort without producing airborne contaminants or dust.  Perfect for areas where allergens can be a concern.
  • Protected from corrosive chemicals, moisture and mechanical harm, the system can safely and economically heat even the most hazardous areas.
  • ThermaRay’s radiant systems qualify for off-peak rates from power companies and rebates for system purchases in most areas.

Radiant Floor Heating System

How It Works

ThermaRay’s Radiant Floor Heating panels consist of a teflon coated nichrome conductor wire embedded in a gypsum board and then wired together with a 12 gauge direct bury wire.  The panels are installed unde 4 – 8 inches of a fill sand and the concrete is placed on top.  When the system is turned on the ground and the concrete slab become an efficient, thermal mass of energy.  The principal is along the same lines as the earth and its core.  Heat transfers from hot to cold so the energy is only released when the area above it becomes cooler than the thermal mass.  The heat remains where it is until it’s needed which results in a comfortable, even temperature from floor to ceiling with no wasted energy.

Radiant Ceiling Heating Systems

How It Works

ThermaRay’s Radiant Ceiling panels are placed between the ceiling trusses and secured with plastic strapping along the bottom of the trusses before the ceiling is finished.  Radiant rays, like light rays, travel in straight lines and move naturally from warmer objects to cooler ones warming objects and people.  Silent and motionless, the system creates an even temperature from ceiling to floor while maintaining 100% energy efficiency.

Architectural Series Heating System

How It Works

The Architectural Series (AS) Heating System is comprised of high output heaters designed for high heat loss areas such as manufacturing facilities with large doors and windows.  This system is very energy efficient for primary heating and also for controlling ice and condensation.  The AS frames are mounted to the ceiling and then the heaters are placed in the framework.  The framework consists of two side channels and two end channels.  The heaters can also be suspended from the ceiling with cables or chains in high ceiling applications.
