Boston Wharf Warmth

The owners of this condo will now be able to intimately enjoy their beautiful view of the harbor at Battery Wharf in Boston all year round.  They will be sitting comfortably next to the window in the middle of a cold Boston winter which is not the case with a standard forced air or convection system.

Cold 70 Science

Cold 70 is the feeling cold even though it’s warm in the room. Imagine sitting in a restaurant next to the window and its subfreezing outside. The cold surface temperature of the glass pulls the warmth away from your body too quickly.  You feel cold, not because it’s cold in the room, but rather because the window is taking your heat.

It’s the same as putting your hand around a cold glass of water. The warmth from your hand transfers to the glass and eventually warms the water and makes your hand feel cold.  Conversely, if you put your hand around a cup of coffee the warmer temperature of the coffee transfers to your hand.

The Solution

An abundance of windows is beautiful but can have a downside too. Not anymore – Premier Energy designed a system to remedy the owner’s problem. Premier Energy installed ThermaRay’s radiant ceiling panels around the perimeter of the entire condominium to warm the windows, walls and space.

The warm radiant rays of a ThermaRay radiant ceiling heating system raises the surface temperature of glass, walls and floors. Even being close to the windows, the space and view can now be enjoyed all year round.

As shown, the heating panels are installed between the metal joists near the outside wall and windows to counteract the heat loss of the windows.

Aesthetics

In conclusion, 5 rooms with windows in the Battery Wharf condominium with equally as many hidden thermostats.  Emphatically, the owners did not want any of the thermostats visible on the walls of these rooms. Instead, each thermostat was placed discreetly in closets.

Consequently, flush mount sensors were placed in each space next to the windows. In Addition, low voltage sensor wires were brought back to the thermostats.  The sensors were placed in the face of the walls and near window casings.  Altogether, Invisible Heating System and Invisible Controls.

Boston Wharf Warmth = The simplicity of our radiant ceiling panels makes it the go-to solution for remodeling and retrofitting any space in your home.
