What About the Heat?
When Maggie J. and her husband Bruce bought their home in Grand Marais, they quickly learned that some artistic adventurers must have been in charge of the home construction in 1970.
The home was stunning with great views of the adventure that awaited outdoors, but they forgot to install any kind of heating system!
In Maggie’s own words …
“We bought a house on the shore of Lake Superior that was built in 1970. It had good bones but needed serious updating.
The heating system was not a system. The home was built on a cement slab, and they had put baseboard and some ceiling heaters throughout the home. Mostly we relied on the big fireplace.
There was no duct work or any way to add a conventional furnace.”
That may have been a great adventure for an artist in the 1970’s, but it was no way to live on the shores of Lake Superior today!
Finding a Cost-Effective Heating Solution
They managed to find companies offering heating solutions, they were dismayed about cost to do so. Conversely, there just had to be another way to renovate their heating system.
Consequently, she found and contacted Premier Energy USA looking for answers.
“Don asked if we planned to replace the flooring.
It was horribly outdated carpeting, he suggested that we remove the carpet and place ThermaRay “wires” on top of the cement.
We would then pour a thin coat over the wires, and we’d have instant in-floor heat.
It worked! The electric radiant floor heating in the house is now comfortable, constant, clean. Every room has its own thermostat.
We’re so grateful for the creative suggestion and just love the results!”

Altogether, we were ecstatic to solve Maggie and Bruce’s heating challenges and create for them what they called “A Grand Marais Miracle”
